Anam Urges Villagers to Utilise PM Surya Ghar Scheme

Nellore: State endowments minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy on Sunday appealed to rural households to take full advantage of the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar scheme, saying it will help them save on electricity bills and also earn additional income.
Speaking in Maktapuram village of Sangam mandal, he said that the government aims to provide easy access to solar energy to every household, especially in rural areas.
During her visit, Anam inaugurated newly constructed cement roads worth ₹63 lakh and laid the foundation stone of a gram panchayat building estimated to cost ₹32 lakh. He was warmly welcomed by the villagers and local leaders.
Announcing the Surya Ghar scheme, the minister said SC and ST beneficiaries will get free solar connections while BC beneficiaries will get Central government subsidies with an additional 20,000 approved by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He announced that 10,000 solar connections have been sanctioned for the Atmakur constituency and urged villagers to make use of the opportunity.
Emphasizing the coalition government’s focus on village development, Anam said several crore rupees have been spent on improving rural infrastructure in the last 18 months. In Maktapuram alone, multiple development works were carried out in a single day.
He said the welfare schemes have reached eligible beneficiaries, including social pension worth Rs 1.33 crore for 209 villagers, 15,000 financial assistance to 11 auto drivers under Auto Drivers Sevalo scheme, Rs 27.30 lakh to 182 beneficiaries under Talliki Vandanam scheme and Rs 66 lakh to farmers under Annadata Sukhibhava programme.
The Minister said that 143 projects worth Rs 12.96 crore have been approved in Sangam mandal.
He thanked Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan for approving funds for road construction and announced a fund of ₹ 2.72 crore for the construction of Village Health Clinic buildings. He also assured that endowment department officials will complete the pending works at the local Shiva temple.
Later, touching on the “Raitanna Meekosam” program at the Atmakur Agricultural Market Committee, Anam drew attention to the efforts to revitalize the agricultural market committees, cooperative unions and irrigation unions.
He assured farmers of full support from planting to marketing of the produce, pointed out that there is ample water in Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs and said that the Annadata Sukhibhava project and Somasila High Level Canal works are continuing to strengthen irrigation.
The Minister added that fertilizers and seeds are being supplied smoothly and specific action plans are in place for further development of Atmakur Agricultural Market Committee to make agriculture a profitable source of livelihood.
