According to the official statement, 4 departure and 7 arrival flights were canceled during the day. It was stated that the cancellations were attributed to persistent dense fog, bad weather conditions and air pollution that affected flight operations in New Delhi and some northern regions over the last few days.

“Flight services in New Delhi and other northern states were severely affected due to dense fog and adverse weather conditions. Many flights bound for New Delhi failed to land and were diverted to other airports,” the statement said. As a result, flight services between Chennai and northern cities were disrupted.
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, four flights from Chennai to New Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata and Ghaziabad were cancelled. Similarly, seven flights scheduled to arrive in Chennai today (December 17) from Delhi, Jaipur, Patna, Pune, Kolkata, Indore and other cities have also been cancelled. According to the CPCB classification, 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 is ‘moderate’, 201-300 is ‘poor’, 301-400 is ‘very poor’ and 401-500 is ‘severe’.
