India closes Visa Centre in Dhaka Citing Security Situation

Dhaka: The Indian Visa Application Center (IVAC) in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka closed its office on Wednesday due to the current security situation.
IVAC at Jamuna Future Park in Dhaka is the main and integrated center for all India visa services in the capital.
“Given the ongoing security situation, we would like to kindly bring to your attention that IVAC JFP Dhaka will be closed at 14:00 today,” IVAC said in a statement. he said.
IVAC said all applicants with appointment slots scheduled for delivery on Wednesday will be rescheduled to a later date.
Earlier in New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned Bangladesh envoy Riaz Hamidullah and conveyed strong concerns over some extremist elements, announcing plans to create a security situation around the Indian mission in Dhaka.
The statement said, “We expect the interim government to ensure the security of the Missions and Police Stations in Bangladesh in accordance with its diplomatic obligations.”
It was stated that the envoy was informed about India’s strong concerns regarding the deteriorating security environment in Bangladesh.
