Sona Comstar’s chairman, industrialist Sunjay Kapur, died of a sudden heart attack while playing a polo match in London in June 2025. His death sparked a massive inheritance row over his estate, estimated to be worth over Rs 30,000 crore. Samaira and Kiaan Kapoor, his children from his second marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, filed a lawsuit claiming that his third wife, Priya Sachdev, forged his will and wanted to get their rightful share of his assets.

While this legal dispute intensified with each hearing, Sunjay’s sister Mandhira made new attacks on Priya, stating that she did not think her brother died of natural causes. Speaking on the InControversial podcast, he said: “We as Kapurs will carry this legacy forward. Priya is not the face of this family. She is not the face of this company. She should not even be around.”

“Our journey with Sona (Comstar) has been very personal. We were very proud of Sona. My father was an innovator. It’s like our child is being kidnapped and we are going to fight it. They won’t get away with it and I won’t let my father’s hard work and legacy walk away from him. The truth will come out. You are using our money to fight us. That’s the weird part,” he added.

Claiming that Sunjay would never choose Priya over Samaira and Kiaan, Mandhira said, “And I would like him to go on record to say that he does not care about his children and wants to destroy them. There is no way he would choose his third wife over his two children. Also, I do not think my brother died of natural causes. I am sorry. My brother was a healthy man and I will get to the bottom of everything.”

In one of the Coyrt hearings, Priya had claimed that her personal expenses were covered as Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur continued to receive Rs 21 lakh monthly from the company. Reacting to these allegations, Mandhira said, “There is a difference between blood and a stranger. When my father was alive, my mother was receiving much more than when my brother was alive, and this is the truth. Unfortunately, he never controlled what he received. Now we are controlling what is happening.”

“It’s a shame that she gets only Rs 12 lakh. It was Rs 21 lakh, but after tax and other deductions, she used to get Rs 13 lakh, which has now come down to Rs 12 lakh. But the outsider (Priya) is coming up, I think she has Rs 3 to 5 lakh every month. Because she gets Rs 1 billion from a single company and has taken over everything. She gets Rs 5 crore and the creator of the company gets Rs 12 lakh,” he concluded.
