Dense fog will affect transportation in Himachal
Dense fog in Himachal and Shimla region may affect some airports, highways and railway routes in met-subdivision areas, IMD said. Dense fog can make driving conditions difficult as travel times are slowed down.
Transportation and Aviation:
• May affect some airports, highways and rail routes in subdivision areas.
• Difficult driving conditions with slower travel times.
• If precautions are not taken, it may cause some traffic accidents.
Power Sector:
• Possibility of Power Lines Breaking on very dense foggy roads.
Human Health:
• Lung-related health effects: Dense fog contains particulate matter and other pollutants, and upon exposure it settles in the lungs, congesting them and reducing their functional capacity, increasing the incidence of wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath.
• Effect on people with asthma bronchitis: Prolonged exposure to dense fog can cause breathing problems in people with asthma, bronchitis, and other lung-related health problems.
• Eye Irritation: Dense fog contains various types of pollution, and these airborne pollutants, if exposed, can irritate the eye membranes and cause various infections, causing redness or swelling of the eye.
