Mehbooba Mufti Tells Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday asked Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to reconsider allocating ‘fertile’ land to BSF for setting up a security camp in Pulwama district.
“This is a fertile land located in the middle of the village. It should not be given to BSF for setting up camp as the livelihood of many people depends on this land,” Mufti told reporters after visiting Pochal village in Pulwama.
The former chief minister was also accompanied by party’s Pulwama MLA Waheed Para.
“Omar Abdullah is the prime minister and he should intervene to protect the interests of the people. BSF may be given unproductive land,” Mufti said, adding that he would also discuss the issue with the defense minister.
Mufti said PDP had recently introduced a bill in Parliament to protect these lands but Abdullah branded it as a bill aimed at land grabbers.
“Since the rejection of PDP’s land conservation bill, demolitions have intensified, leaving people fearful and defenseless,” the PDP chief said. he said.
