More photos from Epstein’s estate released by House Democrats as deadline to release DOJ files looms

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s mansion on Thursday; It was the latest in a series of intermittent revelations that have sparked significant political intrigue in recent weeks. Who might be related? with a convicted sex offender.

Maybe someone would be good for J?” A series of messages are read. The person then submits a detailed description that includes their name, “18 years old,” height, measurements, weight, a note about the Schengen area, and “city of departure.” Most of the details have been redacted, but the check mark next to age, Schengen and Russia appears.

Previous photos from Epstein’s estate released by Democrats depicted the late financier’s private island and the many powerful figures in his orbit.

At least some of the men photographed Thursday had previously been reported to have known Epstein, and some had also been photographed in previous photos taken at the mansion. CNN has reached out to representatives for each of these men.

The newly released photos included philosopher Noam Chomsky on a plane with Epstein, two photos of Bill Gates on a panel with women whose faces were redacted by Democrats, conservative firebrand Steve Bannon and film director Woody Allen.

Bannon had previously declined CNN’s request for comment.

A spokesman for Gates has previously repeatedly denied that Epstein worked for him. Gates has previously stated that he regrets meeting with Epstein, telling CNN’s Anderson Cooper in 2021: “It was a big mistake to spend time with him, to give him the credibility of being there.”

Chomsky, who previously declined CNN’s requests for comment, is known to have once written a letter of recommendation for Epstein, talked with Epstein about science and philosophy, and was invited by Epstein to one of his homes in 2015.

There are also photos of former YouTube CEO Salar Kamangar, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, and New York Times columnist David Brooks at Edge’s 2011 “Billionaires Dinner.”

Brooks wrote: column Last month we criticized people for viewing Epstein as “the most important issue in American life right now.” A New York Times spokesperson said in a statement to CNN: “As a journalist, David Brooks regularly attends events to speak with prominent and prominent business leaders to inform his columns, which is exactly what happened at the 2011 event. Kamangar and Brin did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

It is not yet clear when, where and by whom all the photographs in the collection were taken.

Democrats noted that the estate did not provide any context about the images shared with the committee and said they made them public as they were received, except for their redactions. Democrats have chosen which photos to release since the panel received more than 95,000 images from the property last week, which lawmakers are still reviewing.

Members of the panel noted that with each release, it is not known whether victims and survivors have personally identifiable information or whether the person pictured is a victim of Epstein’s abuse.

While Oversight Democrats last week released some of the photos from Epstein’s estate turned over to the committee, the Republican-led panel has generally released documents and images in one blob after lawmakers review them in their entirety. Republicans on the committee accused Democratic members of selecting “useless” images to create a particular narrative.

“Audit Democrats will continue to release photos and documents from the Epstein estate to provide transparency to the American people,” Ranking Member Robert Garcia said in a statement. “As we move closer to the Epstein Files Transparency Act deadline, these new images raise more questions about what exactly the Justice Department has in its possession. We must end this White House cover-up, and the Justice Department must release the Epstein files immediately.”

In a letter to the committee, attorneys for the estate said they could review the videos and photographs they requested “taken at any property owned, leased, operated or used by Epstein from January 1, 1990, through August 10, 2019.”

Although the committee said the obtained documents continue to open new investigative inquiries, the slow-moving revelations from Capitol Hill have been downright painful at times for many of Epstein’s victims.

But the Justice Department, which faces a Friday deadline to make investigative files publicly available under a law passed by Congress last month, has not publicly detailed the specific timing or parameters of the upcoming release, and survivors who spoke to CNN said they had not received any assistance from the department to discuss the issue.
