Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a post on

“In 2017, President Trump fought to end the DV1 program after an ISIS terrorist crashed into a NYC truck, killing eight people,” he continued. “At the direction of President Trump, I am directing USCIS to immediately discontinue the DV1 program to ensure that no more Americans are harmed by this disastrous program.”

Portuguese citizen Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, who was found dead Thursday from a “self-inflicted gunshot wound,” was a suspect in both the Brown University shooting and the separate killing of an MIT professor, according to authorities.
Valente was a Brown University student more than two decades ago, according to Head of School Christina Paxson.

“Neves Valente was enrolled as a graduate student at Brown from Fall 2000 to Spring 2001, but has no active involvement with Brown and has not been affiliated with Brown since 2003. He was not a current student, not an employee, and did not receive a degree from the University; he continued as a graduate student for only three terms until he was placed on leave in 2001 and formally withdrew effective July 31, 2003.” noted.

“Neves Valente has been accepted to Brown’s Graduate School to study in the Sc.M-PhD program in physics,” Paxson said.
