Stand-off after police officer shot at property

Police closed many streets to traffic after a police officer was shot while on duty in a property.

Police declared an emergency while contacting a man at a home in Yengarie on Queensland’s Fraser Coast.

Police said officers went to the address for a welfare check on Friday evening and were trying to contact the man when one of them was shot in the leg.

The officer was hospitalized in stable condition and police remained in the semi-rural compound.

An exclusion zone has been established around the surrounding streets and people have been asked to stay away from the area.
