Escaped goat captured by police using riot shields

An escaped goat that was attacked in a Wiltshire village was captured safely by police using riot shields.
Officers at Upper Seagry, near Chippenham, were not kidding when they lassoed the goat before returning the animal safely to its owner.
An eyewitness told the BBC that the goat was causing mischief by trying to eat the oranges from a Christmas wreath on Thursday and was seen chasing a woman through the village.
Video taken by Wiltshire Police shows the mammal trying to eat safety equipment in the boot of the officer’s car.

“Where does the goat live, it doesn’t look very nice,” an officer can be heard saying in body-worn camera footage.
“It’s actually pretty aggressive,” the officer added as the goat’s head hit the riot shield and another officer tried to lasso the goat.
“We tied it to a tow rope, we got some PSU shields because it’s trying to hit my head,” the officer said, before noting how big the animal was.
The goat briefly escaped the lasso and ran towards the road before police recaptured the animal.
A Wiltshire police spokesman said: “PC Ferris and PC Miller from Chippenham Response intervened quickly, brought the situation under control and returned the goat to its owner.”
