Labourer abducted and killed over love affair; three arrested in Kunigal

A 25-year-old laborer was killed by his uncle and two others in Kunigal on Thursday, allegedly over a love affair after the girl’s family objected to the relationship.
The deceased Cheluvaraju was in a relationship with his uncle’s daughter for the last four years but the accused started opposing and threatened Chelavaraju to stay away.
When the girl’s family did not agree to the marriage, Cheluvaraju recently uploaded a video on Facebook stating that he would not leave the woman he loved under any circumstances.
Police said the video angered the girl’s father and relatives, who allegedly conspired to eliminate Cheluvaraju. On December 18, around 4.30 pm, the accused allegedly took Cheluvaraju from Kunigal town in a car between Gattipur and Aralikate Doddi in Magadi taluk and killed him by cutting his throat with a machete.
Based on the complaint lodged by Anna Raju, brother of the victim and resident of Kothagere village of Kunigal taluk, Kunigal police arrested 48-year-old Kempanarasimhaiah, a resident of Donakuppe; Manjunath C., 40, resident of Donakuppe; and Ramakrishna, 40, from Kunigal town of Tumakuru district.
Ramakrishna was a logger while Kempanarasimhaiah and Manjunath were carpenters.
