‘The Wire’ star James Ransone dead by suicide at 46

James Ransone, known for his role as Ziggy Sobotka in HBO’s “The Wire”, has passed away. He was 46 years old.
Ransone died by suicide in Los Angeles on December 19, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Ransone’s cause of death was listed as “hanging” and the place of death was listed as “cottage.”

Ransone opened up about his struggle with addiction in 2016.
“People think I got sober while working on ‘Generation Kill.'” “I didn’t do that,” said Ransone, who got sober at 27 after using heroin for five years. Interview Magazine. “I got sober six or seven months ago. I remember going to Africa and I was going to be there for almost a year. I was second on the call sheet and I thought: ‘I guess someone made a mistake. “This is too much responsibility for me.”

Accordingly, in 2021 Page SixRansone posted a lengthy email to her Instagram account alleging that she was sexually abused in her childhood. (The alleged post was later removed.)
Ransone accused her former teacher, Timothy Rualo, of allegedly sexually abusing her multiple times over the course of six months in 1992.

The abuse led to years of substance abuse and mental struggles, according to the alleged email.

A representative for Ransone did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Ransone also appeared in TV shows such as “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, “Hawaii Five-0”, “Generation Kill”, “Treme”, as well as the movie “It: Chapter 2”. His last appearance on television was in the Season 2 episode of “Poker Face”, which aired in June.
