Australian Stock Market begins week on a high: ASX 200 edges up, Nick Scali Limited advances, WiseTech drops; check top gainers, losers and how other key indices performed

The Australian Stock Exchange started the week on a positive note, with the S&P/ASX 200 closing slightly higher on Monday, up 85.30 points or 0.99% at 8,706.70. However, the broader index set a 20-day high. The best performing stocks in this index NICK SCALI LIMITED and NEXGEN ENERGY (CANADA) LTDThey were up 10.96% and 8.54% respectively, according to the ASX website. Over the past five days, the index has gained 0.83% and is now 4.48% below its 52-week high.

ASX 200: Biggest gainers and losers

The S&P/ASX 200 saw significant movements today, with many companies recording significant gains. Overall, the market exhibited a mix of strong gains and moderate declines, with Nick Scali Limited leading the advances and WiseTech Global Limited being at the forefront of declines.
Leading the rise was Nick Scali Limited (NCK), which closed at $23.48, up $2.32, or 10.964%. NexGen Energy (Canada) Ltd (NXG) rose $1.10 to $13.98, gaining 8.54%. DroneShield Limited (DRO) also performed strongly, rising 8.093% from $0.225 to $3.005. Meanwhile, Silex Systems Limited (SLX) rose 8.002%, up $0.645 to $8.705, and West African Resources Limited (WAF) rose 7.57%, up $0.215 to $3.055.

On the other hand, many companies experienced declines during the session. WiseTech Global Limited (WTC) fell $3.09 to $67.09, down 4.403%. Lovisa Holdings Limited (LOV) fell 2.918%, falling $0.89 to $29.61, while Tabcorp Holdings Limited (TAH) fell 2.5%, falling $0.025 to $0.975. TUAS Limited (TUA) fell $0.16 to $7.02, down 2.229%, and Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (DMP) fell $0.43 to $21.67, down 1.946%.

Overall, the market exhibited a mix of strong gains and moderate declines, with Nick Scali Limited leading the advances and WiseTech Global Limited being at the forefront of declines.

ASX: How are other key indices performing?

The Australian share market recorded gains in all major indices today. The S&P/ASX 20 index opened at 4735.60, up 0.6%, and closed at 4763.30. The broader S&P/ASX 50 also saw a positive move, rising 0.7% to 8307.30 from an open of 8250.40. Similarly, the S&P/ASX 100 index rose from 7164.00 at the opening to 7221.50 at the close, recording a gain of 0.8%.

The broadest benchmark, the S&P/ASX 300, also performed strongly, gaining 0.9% from 8584.70 to 8662.20. Overall, all major indices ended the session in positive territory, reflecting an overall optimistic trading day.
