BJP on Track to Control Key Corporations

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strengthened its position in the Telangana municipal elections by winning a significant number of seats, said G. Ramchander Rao, president of the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Ramchander Rao stated that the BJP has won 250 municipal elections so far and has emerged as the largest party in six municipalities. He expressed confidence that the party is ready to take control of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation and Nizamabad Municipal Corporation.
He also said that the BJP candidates are likely to become presidents in Narayanpet, Adilabad and Raikal municipalities with the support of ex-officio members and independents. “The results are in line with expectations. Although we did not get encouraging results in a few districts, we are winning around 350 seats in total, including wards and divisions,” he said.
Ramchander Rao claimed that the Congress, BRS and AIMIM were working together at various places to defeat the BJP and this was affecting the party’s performance in the tripartite contests. He stated that in Kothagudem in old Khammam district, the BJP won one division and in Aswaraopeta, one ward.
He said that many municipalities have resulted in hanging resolutions and made it clear that the BJP will not support any party in such cases. “However, if others want to support us, we will accept it,” he added.
Stating that the BJP is gaining strength in urban areas, he said that the people of Telangana have faith in the party and expressed confidence that the BJP will eventually come to power in the state.
