Mike Pence Slams the ‘Fallen’ Heritage Foundation Amid Mass Exodus to His Own Think Tank

Former Vice President Mike Pence In an interview with , he was outspoken about mass immigration from the influential Heritage Foundation to his group, Advancing American Freedom. Wall StreetJournal On Monday.
Daily It reported Monday that the AAF “plans to hire approximately 15 Heritage employees, including several prominent leaders,” and Pence told the outlet that he believes Heritage has “declined” and “abandoned its principles” in recent years.
“The reason these people come our way is because Heritage and some of the other voices and commentators have embraced big government populism and are willing to tolerate antisemitism,” Pence said.

Those joining the AAF include: JohnMalcolmHead of the foundation’s legal and judicial studies center, Kevin Dayaratnahead of the foundation’s data analysis center and Richard Sterndirector of the foundation’s institute for economic policy studies. AAF said it would hire about a dozen more staff. Malcolm takes seven members of his center team with him.
Edwin Meeseconservative law elder who served as Ronald Reagan’s attorney general too announced AAF will host the Edwin Meese III Rule of Law Institute. Heritage’s own legal studies center currently bears Meese’s name.

One of the former board members, Abby Spencer MoffatIn his resignation letter, he argued that “Heritage’s handling of recent challenges has revealed a departure from the principles that once defined its leadership.”
“When an institution hesitates to confront harmful ideas and allows flawed decisions to prevail,” Moffat continued, “it loses the moral authority on which its influence depends.” Moffat continued, saying he “cannot remain on the board unwilling or unable to meet this moment with the clarity and courage it needs.”
