Outrage as engaged teacher who made out with boy, 11, in her classroom is sentenced to half the jail time prosecutors demanded

A engaged teacher who admitted to having sex with an 11-year-old boy in her classroom was sentenced to only half the prison sentence requested by prosecutors.

Madison Bergmann, 26, who teaches fifth grade at River Crest Elementary School in Hudson, Wisconsin, wept as she was sentenced to six years in prison Friday.

The perverted former teacher exchanged more than 35,000 messages with the victim between February and April 2024 – and the boy’s father made a sickening discovery.

He talked about how much he enjoyed touching and kissing her in uncomfortable conversations.

Investigators also found nearly 100 handwritten love letters between Bergmann and the boy in a folder with the victim’s name in his classroom.

At Friday’s hearing, his lawyer asked for just one year in prison followed by supervised release, while prosecutors asked for him to be sentenced to 12 years in prison.

His sentence was the result of a deal he made with the prosecutor’s office in late September; In that agreement, he pleaded guilty to one count of child seduction and two counts of sexual harassment by school personnel.

The sex offender has pleaded not guilty to several charges, including first-degree sexual assault on a child, exposing a child to harmful disclosures, using a computer to facilitate child sex crimes, and additional charges of sexual harassment and child seduction by school personnel.

“I want to make it absolutely clear that I take responsibility for every boundary that was crossed,” Bergmann told the judge through tears on Friday.

The father of the young boy he sexually abused told the court how his son was bullied as a result of Bergmann’s crimes.

He reiterated that the text messages he reviewed between Bergmann and his son were ‘very disturbing’ and graphic.

When the angry father first discovered the inappropriate texts Bergmann had sent, he printed them out and showed them to the school.

“It is deeply troubling for all of us to learn of allegations of inappropriate behavior by a school staff member that undermines trust,” the school previously wrote in a statement. Bergmann resigned from his teaching position in May 2024.

After his vile abuse of the child was revealed, he lost not only his teaching job but also his fiancée.

A friend of Hickman said the pedophile was set to marry Sam Hickman in July last year but was dumped due to his “abysmal behaviour” New York Post.
