Anil Kapoor says Mr India wouldn’t have been possible without this person; it’s not Shekhar Kapur, Amrish Puri, Sridevi

Anil Kapoor on Tuesday celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of his father-producer Surinder Kapoor and credited him for the success and vision behind Mr India and Woh 7 Din.

Anil Kapoor on Tuesday took to social media to celebrate his father Surinder Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary. The actor starred in the iconic films Mr. India and Woh paid a heartfelt tribute to the man who played an important role in shaping the 7 Religions. Drawing on his father’s guidance and influence, Anil credited him for the success and vision behind some of Bollywood’s most loved films.
Anil posted a series of never-before-seen black and white photos on his Instagram account celebrating his father’s legacy. She wrote in the caption: “Celebrating 100 years of my father today. He was the reason why I first dreamed of becoming a leading actor, I just hoped that one day he would see me as a star, a successful actor producing films under his banner. Woh 7 religions and Mr India would not have seen the light of day without his good will and guidance.”
Highlighting the lasting impact of his father’s support on his successful career, the Welcome actor added, “His simplicity, honesty and quiet faith have shaped every step of my journey. I feel his absence deeply, but his dreams and lessons live on with me every day… Happy Birthday Dad! You were, are and always will be my guiding star.”
The throwback images capture Anil Kapoor’s father Surinder Kapoor’s precious moments in the film industry. The late producer could be seen posing with his son as well as iconic stars like Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Sridevi, Parveen Babi, Shashi Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar and several other legends of Bollywood.
Born on 23 December 1925 in Peshawar (in present-day Pakistan), Surinder Kapoor moved to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, after partition in 1947. His cousin Prithviraj Kapoor invited him to Mumbai to join the film industry. He became a well-known pridegiver in Bollywood and also served as the President of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India from 1995 to 2001.
Surinder Kapoor passed away due to heart attack on 24 September 2011. Besides Anil Kapoor, his other two sons Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor are also working in Bollywood. While Boney continued his father’s legacy and became a successful producer, Sanjay also became an actor. The three brothers’ family is also actively involved in the film industry.
