First teaser from Avengers Doomsday

Marvel fans have a big reason to rejoice with the release of the first teaser for Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel Entertainment released a teaser on its YouTube channel on Tuesday, confirming the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. The trailer was first released in theaters alongside James Cameron’s latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment in the sci-fi epic Avatar series, which was released on December 19.

The 80-second teaser shows Steve Rogers on a quiet farm. He is seen riding his motorcycle towards his home while a soft piano version of the Avengers theme plays. Steve wears a blue helmet that reminds fans of his Captain America costume. In one scene, she is seen holding a newborn baby. The teaser ends with the sentence, “Steve Rogers will return for Avengers: Doomsday.” A countdown timer also appears, marking one year until the movie’s release.

Russo Brothers, who directed Avengers: Doomsday, shared the teaser on Instagram. However, they wrote: “The character who changed our lives. The story that brought us all here. He would always come back to that.” Anthony and Joseph Russo entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and followed up with Captain America: Civil War (2016). They also directed Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), two of the MCU’s biggest blockbusters.

Chris Evans isn’t the only original Avenger returning. Robert Downey Jr. will also return, but this time he will play the supervillain Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man. Other returning actors include Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, David Harbor and many more. Fantastic Four actors Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn, as well as X-Men series stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden and Rebecca Romijn will also appear in the film.

Avengers: Doomsday, the fifth movie of the Avengers series and the 39th movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be released on December 18, 2026. In the film, the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers and X-Men will come together to confront Doctor Doom. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is scheduled to be released on December 17, 2027.
