North Korea’s Kim Jong-un reappointed to top job

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been reappointed head of state affairs, state media KCNA reported.

The country convened the first session of the Supreme People’s Assembly on Sunday, KCNA said.

The meeting in Pyongyang will discuss amendments and additions to the socialist constitution, as well as the election of the chairman of the State Affairs Commission and other state leadership bodies.

The assembly, North Korea’s legislative body that formally approves state policy, usually meets after the ruling Workers’ Party Congress to turn party decisions into law.

KCNA said the meeting will also review the country’s five-year economic plan, which was announced at the ninth party congress in February.
