NFL reporter Jane Slater responds to death rumor: ‘Glitch in the matrix’

Last week, a rumor circulated online that a longtime NFL reporter had died at the age of 40.

News of Jane Slater’s supposed death spread on social media, but she quickly shut it down.

An Slater, 45, was born in 1980, but the years written in the post mean he died at 44 or 45.

“A veteran reporter who covered the Dallas Cowboys and covered the team for over a decade has passed away at the age of 40 following a tragic domestic violence incident, leaving behind a 5-year-old child. His years of dedication, along with the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding his death, have left his devoted fans stunned, devastated, and praying for him and his family,” the post read.

The user asked Slater “are you dead?” he asked.

“I don’t think so? But does that mean there’s (a) glitch in the matrix? I’ll be wrapping myself in bubble wrap by the New Year,” Slater joked.

If there’s one thing the Facebook post is true about, it’s that Slater primarily covers the Cowboys for the NFL Network.
