Health alert after person infected with measles travels from Bali to Perth on Jetstar flight

WA Health is reporting a new case of measles in a traveler returning from Bali and people who visited Perth International Airport over the weekend are asked to monitor for symptoms.
The traveler was on Jetstar flight JQ11 from Bali to Perth on Saturday.
In 2025, 59 cases of measles were reported in Western Australia.
Those visiting new exposure sites should monitor for symptoms for seven to 18 days after exposure.
Symptoms of measles include fever, fatigue, runny nose, red eyes and cough, followed by a large red rash a few days later.
Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads through airborne droplets and causes serious illness that can sometimes be fatal.
You can protect yourself from measles by getting vaccinated. In Western Australia, vaccinations are free to anyone born after 1965 who has not received two doses of measles vaccine.
