PM Narendra Modi graces Neeraj Chopra and Himani Mor’s grand reception in Delhi; gifts Lord Ram idol

Narendra Modi attended the marriage ceremony of Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and his wife Himani; Here the Prime Minister presented a Lord Ram idol to the gold medalist. Photos from the honorable ceremony went viral.
India’s “Golden Boy” Neeraj Chopra and his wife Himani Mor Chopra had a spectacular wedding ceremony at the Leela Palace in New Delhi on Saturday. The energy in the room soared when Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived, joining the crowd of top athletes and political leaders to congratulate the newlyweds.
Modi’s visit was not just for show. She has always had a special bond with Neeraj. This time, he brought along as a gift a beautifully crafted idol of Lord Ram, which was a symbol of power and grace for Neeraj and Himani as they started their life together. The Prime Minister did not just come in and out. He spent real time with his family, chatting, sharing smiles and making sure to personally wish Neeraj success in this big chapter.
Neeraj, who made history by becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic gold in athletics, had surprised everyone by quietly announcing his marriage to Himani on Instagram in January. Her post summed up her mood perfectly: “We are starting a new chapter in life with my family. I am grateful for every blessing that has brought us to this moment.”
Himani fits perfectly into this power couple story. He is a 25-year-old tennis player from Sonipat with serious qualifications. He graduated from Miranda House in Delhi, earned a Master’s degree in Sports Management from Franklin Pierce University in the US, and played for India at the 2017 World University Games in Taipei. He even won a gold medal at the World Junior Tennis Championships in 2016.
The Leela reception was just one of a series of celebrations that followed another meeting on December 26. This special evening in Delhi attracted everyone’s attention in sports and politics; It is not surprising that this night quickly became one of the most talked about parties in the city.
Before the reception, Modi had hosted Neeraj and Himani at his official residence 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, where they chatted about sports and life. He later posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Met Neeraj Chopra and his wife Himani Mor… Had a great interaction on various topics including sports!”

For now, Neeraj is basking in happiness and enjoying the vacation. But he will soon be back to work, training under his new coach, the legendary Jan Zelezny, and preparing for a great 2026 season. But right now it’s all about celebrating a new beginning, and for India’s most loved athlete, it’s something that’s richly deserved.
