According to a report by Hindustan Times, Meghalaya Police has rejected allegations made by Bangladesh that the two accused in Osman Hadi murder – Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh – fled to India through the Haluaghat border in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district and are currently in the Indian state.
“No official or unofficial communication has been received from Bangladesh police. No trace of any of the accused mentioned in the report has been found in Garo Hills and no arrest has been made,” a senior Meghalaya police official was quoted as saying by HT.

Echoing this view, BSF (Meghalaya Border) Inspector General OP Upadhayay categorically denied that any border crossing took place in Haluaghat region.
“There is no evidence that these people crossed the international border from Haluaghat district to Meghalaya. No such incident has been detected or reported by the BSF. These allegations are baseless and misleading,” HT quoted Upadhayay as saying.
These remarks came after Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media Centre, Additional Commissioner SN Nazrul Islam, while addressing a press conference, said that the two suspects involved in Osman Hadi murder, Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh, crossed into India through the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh.
According to The Daily Star, Nazrul Islam said, “According to the information we have, the suspects entered India through the Haluaghat border. After crossing the border, they were first met by a person named Purti. Then a taxi driver named Sami took them to Tura city of Meghalaya.”
