Assembly Speaker Holds Meeting Ahead of Winter Session

Hyderabad: Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar held a preparatory meeting with senior government and police officials at the committee hall of the Legislative Assembly building on Sunday to discuss regulations, facilities and security measures.

Officials were instructed to be present during the session to provide appropriate information and assistance to ministers and members. The Speaker of the Assembly said, “The information requested by members should be provided as soon as possible.”

The police were instructed to take precautions to ensure that the sessions proceed smoothly. Spokesperson Prasad said information about planned protests or demonstrations should be obtained in advance and prevented.

Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy said that all ministry officials should work together for successful conduct of Council sessions. Necessary nodal officers and liaison officers should be appointed. The President asked officials to submit data to answer outstanding questions.

“There is a high probability of calls for demonstrations during these sessions. Ensure that ‘Chalo Meeting’ programs are not held,” Sukhender Reddy said. “Adequate precautions should be taken to avoid traffic disruptions for ministers, MLAs and MLCs attending the sessions,” he said.

The Chairmen expressed their appreciation to the government, police officials and other officials who worked to ensure the smooth conduct of the previous sessions and asked them to do the same in the Winter Session.
