NFL news: 49ers’ Kendrick Bourne talks about wife’s ‘expensive’ lifestyle

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne got a big bonus last week against the Indianapolis Colts by surpassing 500 receiving yards on the season.
Bourne opened up about reaching the milestone with NBC’s Melissa Stark before the 49ers play the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. From their conversation, it becomes clear that Bourne threw his wife under the bus.

“Kendrick Bourne had a payday last week. He made $500,000, surpassing the 500 reception area,” Stark said during the broadcast. “He said he was so excited to celebrate with his teammates that he forgot to get the ball. He was so happy to get it. He said he was glad it was over because he never wanted to be a distraction, but it was perfect timing right before Christmas because ‘My wife, Vanessa, is expensive. So she was just as happy as I was.’
“Yes, Vanessa, he sold you. How about this; there’s another incentive on the horizon. If he hits 600 yards, that’s a $250,000 payday.”

Vanessa Bourne was at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday night to cheer on her husband and his teammates. He posted several videos to his Instagram Stories of his teammates celebrating with their wives and girlfriends.
Kendrick and Vanessa Bourne married in 2023. The two have a child.
The wide receiver had one catch for 25 yards against the Bears. San Francisco won the game 42-38. He has 37 catches for 551 yards this year.
