one dead, tourists injured after head-on collision in Peru
-Lima: A train driver died and 40 people, including foreign tourists, were injured when two trains collided head-on along the railway leading to the Inca castle of Machu Picchu, the most important tourist destination of the Andean country that attracts more than 1 million visitors every year.
Police are investigating a collision between trains operated by Inca Rail SA and PeruRail SA, which mostly transport tourists to the iconic site. A health official said about 20 people were in relatively serious condition.

A police officer added that foreign tourists were among the injured.
In the images shared on social media shortly after the accident, heavily damaged locomotives facing each other on the rails, glass shards scattered around and injured people receiving treatment on the sides of the rails were seen.
