El Paso barber’s kindness ends with viral arrest video
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — This act of kindness took an unfortunate turn when an allegedly homeless man was seen acting aggressively and being arrested at the entrance of a barbershop in El Paso’s Upper Valley earlier this week, moments after he was given money, a free haircut, snacks and water.
A video posted online by a local barber has gone viral, showing how he walked into his barber shop where a man was sitting at the entrance. The barber greets the man and gives him money and asks if he wants potato chips or water, to which the man says yes.
After entering the store, the barber is seen taking at least three bags of potato chips and handing them to the man. They exchange a few words and the barber offers the man a haircut and he accepts. The video then shows the barber giving the man a haircut, and when he’s done, he walks the man to the door and says: “Okay, man. Take care. I love you, brother. God bless you.”
The video cuts out and the barber is seen inside the shop with the doors locked, while the man is outside aggressively knocking on the door and yelling. The barber can be heard telling the man that he gave him a haircut and that he was ungrateful.
Moments later, El Paso police officers arrive outside the business, where they are recorded confronting the man outside the store. The incident escalates and two police officers are seen cornering the man and one of them is seen shocking the man with a stun gun.
KTSM 9 News reached out to the El Paso Police Department for more information about the incident, and police confirmed the man was arrested for criminal trespass and resisting arrest after responding to a call shortly after 7:20 p.m. on Monday, December 29th.
The barber, who wanted to remain anonymous and goes by the name z_cutzzz on social media, had previously shared similar acts of kindness online. Their accounts include barbershop content, lifestyle posts, and recurring messages encouraging people to be kind to each other.
When KTSM 9 News asked “z_cutzzz” how he felt about the turn of events, he said: “I can’t control the outcome of every situation, but just keep my head up and know it’s all for the glory of God so I can’t lose.”
