450 Staff From Hyderabad Hospitals Posted To Sanathnagar TIMS

Hyderabad: Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanathnagar has deployed around 450 medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, technicians and pharmacists from various government hospitals in the city, to make the facility operational.

According to a senior health official, about one-third of the 450 staff are doctors, while the remaining two-thirds are nurses and other paramedical staff, with nurses being the largest group.

Experts from Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Quthbullapur, Maheshwaram, Koti Maternity Hospital, Niloufer Hospital and ENT Hospital have been recruited on an ad hoc basis. The arrangement will continue for two months until new appointment decisions are made.

Officials stated that two of the three TIMS hospitals will be affiliated with medical schools. Maheshwaram Medical College will be connected to LB Nagar TIMS and Quthbullapur Medical College will be connected to Alwal TIMS. However, Sanathnagar will not have a medical college affiliated with TIMS, which reduces patient flow.

To ensure adequate number of patients in Sanathnagar, cases from nearby areas and long waiting lists at Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, NIMS and other government hospitals will be diverted to clear the three to five month backlog.

TIMS institutions are proposed to operate autonomously under the TIMS Act, in line with NIMS, with similar salary structures. However, permanent manpower posts have not been approved yet and the file is currently pending with the Prime Minister. Personnel recruitment will begin after approval is received. Until then, the Director of Medical Education will manage the institution with the existing teaching staff.

Appointed personnel include doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists and patient care consultants. They will initially handle emergencies and rotational duties between hospitals and will later be fully deployed at Sanathnagar TIMS when the patient load increases.
