Black Republican congressman calls for total abolition of DEI

Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt of Texas is calling for a complete and permanent dismantling of the ideology of diversity, equity and inclusion, stating that he wants to be judged solely on his “character,” “competence” and “results.”

The lawmaker, who has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2023, is running for the U.S. Senate and challenging incumbent Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who is up for re-election this year. Lone Star State Attorney General Ken Paxton also aims to unseat Cornyn in the Republican U.S. Senate primary.
