Woman pushed from a balcony in Montreal | Man charged with aggravated assault

The man who allegedly pushed a woman off a balcony on the third floor of a building Thursday morning in Montreal faces a charge of aggravated assault. The victim is still in critical condition.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) announced that the 31-year-old suspect, who was arrested at the scene, appeared Friday morning and will remain detained.
As for the victim, a woman also aged 31, she is still hospitalized and her life remains in danger.
The scene occurred around 8:15 a.m. Thursday on Sainte-Catherine Street, near Jeanne-d’Arc Avenue, in the Montreal borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
According to witnesses who spoke to the SPVM, an altercation degenerated on the third floor balcony between the woman and the suspect. During the altercation, the man allegedly pushed the woman down from the third floor.
The victim was found on the ground on Sainte-Catherine Street.
In the Criminal Code, we read: “Anyone who injures, mutilates or disfigures the complainant or endangers his or her life commits aggravated assault. »
Authorities have not provided information on a possible connection between the suspect and the victim.
