Venezuela live: Latest updates as seven explosions and low-flying aircrafts heard in Caracas

At least seven explosions and low-flying aircraft were heard in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, early this morning.

Although the cause of the explosions has not yet been confirmed, they occurred amid Donald Trump’s escalating threats against the country’s leader, Nicolas Maduro.

It is understood that the explosions targeted the Tiona Castle, where the headquarters of the Venezuelan defense ministry is located, at 1.50 local time.

There was a power outage in the southern part of the city, which is close to a large military base.

Airplanes, loud noises and at least one column of smoke were heard and seen in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas early Saturday morning.

‘The whole place shook. This is so scary. “We heard explosions and planes in the distance,” said Carmen Hidalgo, a 21-year-old office worker, her voice shaking.

He was walking briskly with two of his relatives on their way back from a birthday party. ‘We felt the air hit us.’
