Keir Starmer will host his first Cabinet meeting since the Parliament recess to focus on the cost of living crisis.

The Prime Minister is choosing to form a “political Cabinet”, meaning Lucy Powell will return to the top table for the first time since Sir Keir sacked her as leader of the House of Commons. But his elected role as Labor deputy leader gives him a seat at such meetings.

There are reports that Health Minister Wes Streeting, who will sit at the cabinet table, may launch a leadership challenge before the May elections.

Sir Keir will then travel to Paris to meet world leaders who are part of the Coalition of the Volunteers to discuss peace talks in Ukraine and Trump’s attacks on Venezuela. He is expected to meet with the US President later.
