‘Reunited with her brother’: Parents devastated after teen dies in horror quad bike crash in Tasmania, just after little brother died

A teenage girl who died along with a man in a horrific quad bike collision on Tasmania’s west coast has been identified.

Emergency services were called at 4.30pm on Saturday to a collision involving a white Mitsubishi Triton and a red Honda quad bike on the Murchison Hwy near Rosebery, approximately 310km north-west of Hobart.

Adasyn Wood Savin, 16, and another man, 38, of Rosebery, were on the ATV.

Despite the best efforts of two interstate tourists who provided medical assistance following the accident, they both died at the scene.

The 40-year-old male driver of the ute was uninjured.

At an official fundraiser, family friend Ella Mackrell revealed that Adasyn’s family was also saddened by the sudden death of her younger brother, who died before the devastating accident that claimed Adasyn’s life.

Ms Mackrell paid tribute to Adasyn, saying she was in Rosebery from NSW for the school holidays.

“He was having fun, spending time with his friends, and making memories like a 16-year-old should.” Ms. Mackrell said.

“Tragically, while riding an ATV, Adasyn and one of our dear friends, Whitt, were hit by a car and both died at the scene.”

GoFundMe, set up by Ms Mackrell, is raising money to support the teenager’s family with funeral costs and take Adasyn home to Newcastle.

“No family should have to worry about finances while grieving the loss of a child,” he said.

“As Adasyn leaves us behind, we think of her parents, her brothers… and the rest of the family as they now face life without their beautiful sister, cousin, and friend.”

A Tasmanian Police spokesman said an investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing and the driver would be subject to drug and alcohol testing, which is standard practice.

“Tasmania Police would like to thank the interstate tourist group who stopped at the scene and provided medical assistance,” a spokesman said.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Anyone with information about the crash or dashcam footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
