Indian economy projected to grow at 6.6% in 2026 against 7.4% in 2025: UN
The United States, the world’s largest economy, is projected to grow 2 percent this year, up from 1.9 percent in 2025, supported by monetary and fiscal expansion. The UN report stated that the global economy faces the risk of growing slower for a long period than before the pandemic, that current growth has failed to deliver broad-based development gains and has left many countries, communities and households behind.
Ongoing policy uncertainty, geopolitical risks and fiscal challenges cloud the global economic outlook. “The sharp increase in US customs duties in 2025 shook the trade environment, but the world economy turned out to be more resilient than expected,” the report said.
The UN expects global growth to moderate as weakening international trade is only partially offset by continued support from monetary easing in 2026. Inflation has fallen significantly in most economies, but the rising cost of living continues to strain household budgets and increase inequality, the report said.
