Meghan Markle’s ‘delusional’ attempt to win popularity tipped to fail | Royal | News

Meghan Markle has been slammed by royal commentators for her “fanciful” new attempt to release a rumored cookbook and boost her flagging popularity. The Duchess of Sussex is believed to be focusing on her lifestyle brand As Ever this year, with plans for global expansion and additional launches.
Prince Harry’s wife has consistently ranked lower than other royals as she continues to see her popularity plummet since her sensational departure from the Royal Family six years ago. Sources have claimed that Meghan is working on a cookbook, which is expected to be released in the spring and is planned to coincide with the expansion of her brand.
Now, one royal commentator has come to a grim verdict on what this year will bring for the Duchess.
Lee CohenThe US-based columnist/royal and foreign policy commentator told the Daily Express that if Meghan were to publish a new cookbook, it would likely fail because it lacked significant content.
She said: “Then comes the rumored cookbook! Cookbooks evoke confidence, authority and the whisper of ‘this person knows their stuff.’ Markle brings none of that: just style and sanctity.”
“Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan was a flop; critics called it uninteresting and tiresome. It was trying for Martha Stewart but without charm, originality or flair.”
She added: “The actress-turned-entrepreneur narrative was once based on innovation. That innovation is now over, long gone.”
“Without new complaints about royal affinity for money-making or weaponization, Markle’s ventures must stand on their own merits – of which there are woefully few.”
Mr Cohen said 2026 would bring “more breathtaking” announcements from the Duchess, who will allegedly fail to keep herself “relevant” after “exhausting” the public.
He explained: “So, 2026 in a nutshell? More launches. More breathtaking announcements. More misleading insistences that big success is just a pivot away.”
“But there is no breakthrough. There is no relevance. Just diminishing returns and exhaustion and alienation of the public.”
