Sankranti Sambaralu To Be Held From Today
Kakinada: Konaseema Sankranti Sambaralu and Sir Arthur Cotton Dragon Boat Race will be held over three days from January 11 to January 13 at Atreyapuram in Konaseema district.
300 people registered for the Rangoli competitions and 100 people for the Kite competition.
As many as 250 members from 25 teams from Andhra Pradesh and Kerala will participate in the Dragon Boat Race competitions and 200 swimmers from across the country will participate in the swim.
Film actor M. Sharwanand will launch the Orchestra and Nari Nari Naduma Murari programs at Mahatma Gandhi Junior College in Atreyapuram and Utsav events will be held from 7 am to 10 pm.
Kothapeta MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao said efforts were being made to make it a tourist destination. He said thousands of devotees flocked to the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Vadapalli and this temple would be developed as a temple for eco tourism.
He said that the Konaseema region will reach new heights at the national level with these celebrations, which will be held magnificently and create a festive atmosphere for three days.
He said that the Dragon Boat Race held at the state level last year brought great fame and prestige to the Konaseema region and this year too, it continues the same spirit.
