DMK MP Tiruchi N. Siva emphasized that the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu are very important and different from the previous ones; “because this is not only an election of power, but also a war of ideologies.” He made these remarks while addressing a meeting in Nagercoil on Sunday, January 11, 2026, where the achievements of the ‘Dravidian model’ government were detailed.

Stating that the ideals brought forth by the Dravidian movement, such as equality, social justice, and the removal of economic discrimination, were now being challenged, he said: “Those with opposing ideologies are trying to enter [the State] with the support of others. It is not just DMK’s duty to prevent their entry; “This is the responsibility of all Tamils.”

He further observed: “The change and growth we are seeing in Tamil Nadu started only after the black and red flag started flying. There was a time when Tamil Nadu was backward in every aspect. It was ranked 29th in the industrial sector. But today, thanks to the Dravidian model government, it has risen to the second rank in all of India.”

Mr. Siva noted that Prime Minister MK Stalin’s able management and the manner in which he implemented various plans had changed the situation. He alleged that the Union government was crushing secularism and trying to subvert the principle of unity in diversity across the country. “Despite their efforts, nothing has been successful in Tamil Nadu and the reason for this is Prime Minister MK Stalin,” he added.

Nagercoil Corporation Mayor R. Mahesh, Tamil Nadu Food Commission Chairman N. Suresh Rajan and other party members were present.
