Suzanne Cherry died four days after being shot at Aston Wood Golf Club in Staffordshire

A man has admitted to killing a woman who was hit by a minivan on a golf course.

Suzanne Cherry, 62, died in hospital in April, four days after she was struck by a gray Nissan involved in a police pursuit at Aston Wood Golf Club in Staffordshire.

John McDonald, 51, of Booth Street, Bloxwich, West Midlands, admitted causing death by dangerous driving.

He is expected to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court later today.

McDonald and co-defendants Johnny McDonald, 23, of Molyneux Road, Dudley, and Brett Delaney, 35, of Michael Road, Darlaston, pleaded guilty on Monday to conspiracy to commit fraud by falsely representing that roofing work was necessary when it was not, between February 17 and April 12 last year.

All three men previously pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges last year.

Cherry, of Aldridge, was killed “while doing what was supposed to be the safest thing” among her many hobbies, her husband said.

He said his “beautiful wife” had an “amazing and infectious zest for life” until “their future together was suddenly taken away.”

The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal collision and the involvement of West Midlands Police officers.

The watchdog said two patrol cars began following a van in Kingstand, Birmingham, after receiving reports of suspicious activity.

They gave up pursuit when the van went off the road and went up an embankment at Aston Wood Golf Club, where they crashed into Miss Cherry.
