Polls show Americans strongly oppose taking over Greenalnd

As President Donald Trump touts efforts to seize Greenland from Denmark, two new national polls reveal the fact that a majority of Americans oppose seizing the massive and highly strategic island located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans.
Eighty-six percent of voters nationwide said they would oppose military action to seize Greenland, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.
That includes 95 percent of Democrats, 94 percent of Independents and even more than two-thirds (68%) of Republicans polled by Quinnipiac from last weekend through Monday.

Three-quarters of Americans questioned CNN poll They also stated that they were against the US taking over Greenland. Ninety-four percent of Democrats and eight in 10 Independents said they would oppose such a move, while Republicans were split 50-50.
Meanwhile, voters were polled by a 55-37 percent margin. Quinnipiac research He said they oppose any U.S. effort to buy Greenland.

But there is a sharp political divide on this question; A majority of Democrats and nearly six in 10 Independents oppose purchasing Greenland, and more than two-thirds of Republicans support such efforts.
“The United States needs Greenland for national security purposes,” the president said in a social media post Wednesday.

And the president stressed that “anything less” than U.S. control of Greenland is “unacceptable.”
Trump’s push for the United States to take Greenland is causing tensions between Denmark and other NATO allies who insist the semi-autonomous Danish territory should determine its own future.
Trump officials are openly considering all options, including military force, to take Greenland, prompting opposition from some parties in Congress.

Troops from several European countries were deployed to Greenland this week for a short two-day mission to strengthen the region’s defenses.
According to information obtained by Fox News, France, Germany, Sweden and Norway are participating in the exercise. Leaders say the goal of the mission is to demonstrate that they can deploy military assets “quickly.”
