Chile establishes Cape Froward park at southern tip of Americas mainland

Chile is preparing to create a new national park to protect endangered wildlife and its unique ecosystems.
The park, Cape (Cabo) Froward National Park, will span approximately 370,000 acres.
According to Reuters, it will be located on the Brunswick Peninsula.

The Brunswick Peninsula is located in Patagonia, bordering the Straits of Magellan and the Otway Strait.

Wildlife coordinator Benjamín Caceres of Rewilding Chile, a non-profit conservation foundation involved in the project, told Reuters that the peninsula is “a mosaic of marine, coastal and terrestrial ecosystems.”

The land, considered a cultural and historical heritage site, is located on ancestral Kawésqar lands.
