Football Governance Bill: MPs vote to make Bill law

MPs voted for establishing an independent regulator to support the football governance bill and to supervise the game of men in the first five parts of the UK.
In the third reading of the House of Commons, they voted 415 to 98 to pass the bill and is now preparing to become a law.
Legislation will strengthen an organ independent of government and football officials.
The government said that an independent regulator would “protect” football clubs “by” financial sustainability. “
Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, “I am proud to be a part of the winning team that puts our fans on the field in the heart of the game.” He said.
The bill was initially introduced by the conservative government in March 2024, but in May it could not pass through Parliament before the general election was called. The new Labor Party government reunited the bill in July 2024.
Before the vote, in a message to the fans, Nandy told Commons: “We have done this for you because you have been treated for you for a long time, at best thought or at worst in a game, just because of you as a wonderful discomfort in a great game.
“This was forced to endure the last quitting misery when MacClesfield, for Wigan, for Bury, Bolton, Derby, for Derby, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, MoreCambe and many other people.”
Shadow Sports Minister Louie French deputy, criticizing the bill, “a future conservative government, the workers’ party regulator will trigger the examination as soon as possible,” he said.
