Swan View woman tells of terrifying moment a stranger broke into her home and stole her car

A Swan View woman has relived the terrifying moment a stranger went on a wild ride after breaking into her home and stealing her care.
Police were on the hunt for a 39-year-old suspected car thief, who allegedly drove to the wrong side of the road, ran a red light while driving and drove along footpaths.
The Mazda CX3 was allegedly cornered on Muwsell Street in Balga on Saturday night – nearly 24 hours after the man was allegedly seen speeding in a black Volkswagon on the Tonkin Highway.
The Volkswagen car was found in the woods in Bennet Springs.
The man now faces 13 charges relating to the Swan Valley incident, including careless driving without a license and aggravated burglary.
“There was a guy right in front of the security gate and he was just pulling on the security gate,” Summit Grove resident Pauline Gordon told 7News.
“I ran to my neighbor across the road and said call the police, someone is trying to get in… and while we were on the phone with the police he came around, got in my car and drove away.
“I was shaking. It was so scary.”
Witness Maxine Osgood described seeing 10 police cars and 20 officers on the pursuit.

“They put him in the police car and the ambulance came,” he said.
It was claimed that the defendant tried to escape from the police via Coastal Road, but was unaware that he had entered a dead end.
Police are also investigating another incident on Saturday in which a cyclist was run over by a car.

The incident, recorded on security camera, occurred at around 13:00 at the corner of Sussex Street and Nollamarra Street in Nollamarra.
Witnesses reportedly claimed they saw the victim holding a pepper spray canister before fleeing the scene.
It was learned that the cyclist escaped with minor injuries to his leg.
A short time later, a Hyundai i30 was seen driving away from the scene.
Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call Crimestoppers.
