T.N. is at suboptimal pace of growth, says Governor R.N. Ravi

Governor RN Ravi on Sunday claimed that Tamil Nadu is experiencing sub-optimal growth rate. The Governor shared his vision of Tamil Nadu becoming a technology and innovation hub at the Bharat Technology 2026 Summit organized by Pan IIT Alumni Association in Chennai.
The Governor praised Tamil Nadu’s immense potential to become a leader in technology and innovation; because the State trained more than two hundred thousand engineers every year, had the highest Gross Enrollment Rate in higher education and applied for the maximum number of patents.
‘Lack of investment’
The governor’s social media post quoted Lok Bhavan as saying: “However, despite such impressive underlying figures, it failed to excite investors as they moved to other states due to visible and invisible venture costs.”
“Even though entrepreneurs incubate their ideas in Tamil Nadu, they are moving to other States to scale up.” The post also stated: “A similar lack of enthusiasm is evident from existing businesses looking to expand further within the State. As a result, the State is on a sub-optimal growth rate.”
The Governor highlighted the existing dilemma between State and non-State run educational institutions in terms of quality of education and called for immediate intervention to improve the quality of education in State run institutions.
