DGP Reviews Police Welfare Schemes

Hyderabad: Director General of Police CV Anand on Monday said that the welfare of police personnel and their families remains the top priority. During a meeting, he reviewed welfare plans for police personnel, including merit scholarships for children, financial support and illness treatment as well as accident insurance.

Anand emphasized that welfare programs should not be turned into commercial ventures. Revenues from police canteens and department complexes should be channeled towards social welfare initiatives such as education, scholarships and marriage benefits.

He instructed the authorities to establish a digital welfare management system to ensure transparency and accountability. Beneficiary details, fund mobilization and service delivery will be recorded on an integrated online platform. Rental rates for departmental complexes should be determined in a transparent manner and low interest loans should be provided – 9 per cent for land loans, 6.75 per cent for housing, 11 per cent for personal loans up to 5 lakh, marriage loans up to 6 lakh and education loans up to 30 lakh including overseas education.

Senior officers including DG (I&O) Mahesh M. Bhagwat, ADG Sanjay Jain, IG Shahnawaz Qasim, IG Gajarao Bhupal, Police Welfare secretary Uday Kumar Reddy, financial advisor Sharath Kumar and representatives of Telangana Police Association attended the meeting.
