Counter Of ‘Islamic NATO’? ‘Mediterranean Quad’ Could See India Join 3+1, Eyes On UAE | World News

Dubai: President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will visit India today (January 19). The trip took place during a period of turbulence in the region. While concerns about a possible US attack on Iran are increasing, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have a dispute over Yemen. Pakistan is working with Türkiye and Riyadh to form a military alliance along the lines of Islamic NATO. It increased strategic concerns towards India.
According to the Eurasian Times, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a defense agreement last year. The agreement ensures that any attack on one is considered an attack on the other. Now Türkiye can join this agreement.
Meanwhile, India and the UAE are monitoring the developments closely. Both countries may explore new alliances to balance this emerging bloc.

A New ‘Quad’ Is Under Construction
Greece, Cyprus and Israel formalized the trilateral military cooperation plan. The agreement includes joint exercises, unmanned systems, electronic warfare training and sharing expertise on regional stability. India has been invited to participate in this ‘3+1’ summit and strategic forum. New Delhi already shares close ties with all three countries.
The initiative follows a tripartite summit and includes detailed bilateral action plans. The plans point to a stronger security coalition against common threats, a strategic message especially to Türkiye. India joining Israel, Greece and Cyprus could create a strong regional bloc.
Saudi, Pakistan and Türkiye Alliance
The potential Mediterranean Quartet, led by India, opposes the growing influence of the Saudi-Pakistan-Türkiye axis. Riyadh’s financial power, Islamabad’s nuclear capacity and Ankara’s military expertise form a collective defense structure called “Islamic NATO”.
Türkiye’s strategic goals are increasingly aligned with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, and all three countries are coordinating militarily.
India-Pakistan relations are at a particularly low point. Relations between the two neighbors have been tense since India’s Operation Sindoor last year. Pakistan now relies on Saudi Arabia and Türkiye for potential economic and military support in any conflict with India.
UAE, Israel and India
The Saudi-Pakistan-Türkiye alliance is a strategic challenge for India. At the same time, the UAE views the Kingdom’s influence as worrying. India already has strong defense and strategic ties with Israel, Greece and Cyprus, and the UAE also maintains close relations with Israel.
This opens up the possibility of a security coalition involving India, Israel and the UAE in the future, although concrete plans have yet to emerge.
