Davos LIVE: Trump’s Greenland threats to dominate forum | World | News

Prime Minister Keir Starmer will not go to Davos because he will “face a lot of challenges in his time”, one of his senior ministers has said.
Darren Jones, the Prime Minister’s chief secretary, was asked why Sir Keir did not go to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland amid Donald Trump’s latest claims on social media.
He told Sky News: “The Prime Minister has always faced many challenges in his time. The Chancellor is in Davos, the Trade Minister is in Davos. Davos is mainly a place to talk about the economy and business investment.”
According to a message shared by the US leader on social media, French President Emmanuel Macron sent a message to Trump and offered him a G7 meeting after the meeting.
On the other hand, Mr. Jones said he hoped Mr. Trump’s tariff threats would not lead him to buy Greenland.
Asked if he believed that would be the outcome of the US president’s actions, the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary told Times Radio: “Look, I hope you don’t.”
