Ahead of O’Romeo, Vishal Bhardwaj breaks silence on rumours of his fallout with Shahid Kapoor: ‘Our bond is special’

Vishal Bhardwaj denied rumors of falling out with Shahid Kapoor and said that their bond is strong despite creative differences. The duo has worked on Kaminey, Haider, Rangoon and now O’Romeo, which will be released on February 13, 2026. Both praised each other’s talents and mutual respect.
Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has finally opened up about the long-standing rumors between him and actor Shahid Kapoor. For a long time, it was thought that the two did not get along while filming Rangoon. Vishal Bhardwaj clarified that there was no major disagreement between them.
Vishal humorously responded to the rumors during the release of the trailer of their next film O’Romeo. He joked that his friends often tell him that he should win another National Award as he has worked with Shahid Kapoor in four films. Additionally, Vishal has openly admitted that he can be difficult to work with, but Shahid understands him deeply.
Creative differences are misunderstood as a result:
Vishal explained that conflicts are inevitable when creative individuals collaborate closely. He claims that these artistic disagreements were misinterpreted and became a rumor of disagreement. He likened his relationship with Shahid to well-known creative collaborations where there are disagreements but the bond remains.
Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor have collaborated on iconic films like Kaminey, Haider, Rangoon and now O’Romeo. While their working relationship wasn’t always easy, Vishal said there was something special about it and praised Shahid as a very talented actor. At the event, Shahid also spoke positively about Vishal and stated that although he was initially keen on collaborating with him, he felt lucky to be a part of his films.

O’Romeo: Their fourth collaboration
O’Romeo is their fourth collaboration and is an action thriller based on true events. The cast also includes Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Disha Patani, Avinash Tiwary, Farida Jalal and Vikrant Massey. The theatrical release date has been determined as February 13, 2026. Vishal Bhardwaj recently spoke out and thus put an end to the rumors and announced that there is no personal issue between him and Shahid Kapoor. On the contrary, their friendship is built on the foundations of respect, trust and love for the film industry they still share.
