Starmer reacts to Trump’s comments on Nato troops in Afghanistan

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Donald Trump’s comments about British troops in Afghanistan were “insulting and frankly appalling”.
Donald Trump sparked outrage among British politicians and veterans’ families after claiming NATO troops were “just off the front lines” during the war in Afghanistan.
The United Kingdom was among many allies who joined the United States in Afghanistan since 2001, after NATO enacted the collective security clause following the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Four hundred and fifty-seven British service personnel were killed in the conflict.
