‘Blasphemy’: outrage after Trump posts AI image of himself as Christ-like figure | Donald Trump

Just months after legislation was signed that would attract nearly 12 million Americans other than health insurance Donald Trump, gutting Medicaid, posted an AI-generated image of himself on Truth Social on Sunday depicting himself as a Jesus Christ-like figure, radiating divine light from his hands as he heals a wounded man in a hospital bed with a demon from hell in the background.
Some of his most high-profile and devoted Christian supporters, many of whom have sided with the president during many other indiscretions, cannot contain their righteous anger.
Fox News host and conservative commentator Riley Gaines said she “can’t understand why he would post this.” “Is he looking for an answer? Does he really think that? Either way, two things are true. 1) a little humility would do him a lot of good, 2) God should not be mocked.” wrote to x.
Megan Basham, writer for the conservative Daily Wire called the post “IMMEDIATE blasphemy”.
“I don’t know if the president thought he was being funny, was under the influence of a substance, or what explanation he could give for this,” he wrote. He demanded that Trump “remove this immediately and ask for forgiveness first from the American people and then from God.”
Isabel Brown, presenter of the same channel, image said It was “disgusting and unacceptable”.
“Nothing is more important than Jesus,” he wrote. “This piece is frankly disgusting and unacceptable, but it is also a profound misreading of the American people who are experiencing a true and beautiful revival of their faith in Jesus.”
Steve Deace, host of right-wing BlazeTV, sent one word: “No.”
The image created by the artificial intelligence shared by Trump was not original. The image was first revealed and published in early February To X by Nick Adamsa conservative commentator a date Sharing AI-generated, Bible-themed Trump content. In Adams’ version, the silhouette of a US soldier stands in the background. Inside Trump’s versionThis soldier has been photoshopped into a demonic figure with horns that appears behind the president as he performs his miracle.
But the anger wasn’t just among high-profile media figures. Users on Trump’s social platform Truth Social, where his loyal supporters have almost no opposition, also became hostile to the president due to this image.
Trump engaged in a war of words with Pope Leo XIV, the first US-born pope in Catholic history, after Leo suggested, without naming the president, that the “illusion of omnipotence” drives US foreign policy, particularly surrounding the war with Iran.
Trump responded by calling the pope “WEAK on Crime,” saying he was “not a fan of Pope Leo,” and suggesting that the leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics “serves the radical left.” Leo, who is also outspoken about the massacres and disasters in Gaza, told reporters during the papal flight to Algeria that he is not afraid of the Trump administration and will continue to raise his voice against the war.
Trump’s AI post comes not only after that debate, but also a week after Easter Sunday for Catholics and the morning after Easter Sunday for Orthodox Christians.
Gospel of Mark records Jesus heals the sick, feeds the hungry, and casts out demons. Trump’s Big Beautiful One Bill, signed into law in 2025, would cut federal Medicaid spending increased by approximately $900 billion in ten years Children’s hospitals warn the cuts will directly harm the most vulnerable patients. More than $1 trillion of those cuts come from Medicaid, the joint federal program that provides health care to low-income and disabled Americans.
A user in X, Mandy Arthurcaught the mood: “Lord, we may have made a mistake and mistakenly chose the Antichrist. Send help.”
