Arsenal 2-3 Man Utd: Matheus Cunha scores dramatic winner against league leaders

Matheus Cunha sealed a dramatic late victory for Manchester United as they defeated Premier League leaders Arsenal in a five-goal thriller at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners’ first home defeat this season, following wins over title rivals Manchester City and Aston Villa, means the gap between them has been reduced to four points.

Arsenal started the match very well and took the lead in the 29th minute when United defender Lisandro Martinez sent the ball into his own goal.

The home side gave Manchester United a chance to get back into the match when Martin Zubimendi’s loose pass put Bryan Mbeumo through on goal, and the United striker calmly slotted the ball past David Raya and into the empty net.

United then shocked the home team and took the lead five minutes into the second half with Patrick Dorgu’s stunning strike under the crossbar.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta attempted to turn the game around by making a quadruple substitution, using Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Ben White. It was Merinos who thought he had saved at least one point by diving from the corner in the 84th minute.

But just three minutes later substitute Cunha received a pass from Kobbie Mainoo and drilled a superb strike into the bottom corner from around 25 yards out.

The win moved Manchester United into fourth place.
